Terms of Service

Please read these terms before using Inkbox. By using the service, you agree to them.

Last updated: 2026-08-03

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Inkbox at https://useinkbox.app and related products (the "Service"), operated by Nicola Schiavo from France ("we", "us", "our").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Inkbox helps you convert web articles and related content into e-reader-friendly formats and deliver them to devices you connect. The Service may include:

  • The website and free conversion tools (for example EPUB or PDF from supported sources, and HTML you paste from a page you can already access).
  • User accounts, dashboard, device destinations, delivery history, and (on eligible plans) magazines and newsletter forwarding.
  • Paid plans (Free, Plus, and Pro) described on our pricing page.
  • The Inkbox browser extension (Chrome, Brave, Firefox, and similar Chromium browsers where we publish it), which can Preview or Send the article on your active tab to a connected device.

Features, supported sources, and limits may change as we improve the product. We may add, modify, or remove functionality during early access. We do not log in to publisher sites or bypass paywalls for you. You may only convert content you are already authorized to access.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for compliance with local laws.

4. Accounts

Some features require an Inkbox account. Authentication is provided by Clerk. You must provide accurate information, keep your sign-in method secure, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account.

We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or other users.

5. Plans, quotas, and payments

Free and paid plan limits (articles, conversions, devices, and other features) are shown on pricing and in your dashboard. Anonymous free tools may also be limited per IP address: up to 3 EPUB conversions (including previews), 3 PDF conversions, and 3 sends per 24-hour period. We may adjust limits to protect the Service.

Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Prices, billing period (monthly or yearly), taxes if applicable, and renewal terms are presented at checkout. By starting a paid plan you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide on the schedule shown.

You can manage or cancel a subscription through the billing portal or flows we provide. Cancellation stops renewal at the end of the current paid period unless stated otherwise at checkout. Fees already paid for the current period are generally non-refundable except where required by law (including mandatory EU consumer withdrawal rights where they apply).

Trials, promo credits, or early-access offers, if any, are subject to the conditions stated when you claim them.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Submit content you do not have the right to access, copy, or convert.
  • Use Inkbox to circumvent paywalls, licenses, or technical restrictions you are not authorized to bypass.
  • Abuse the Service (automated scraping, evading rate limits, overloading infrastructure, or interfering with other users).
  • Upload malware, spam, or illegal material.
  • Reverse engineer or misuse our APIs except as allowed by law.
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with Inkbox.

7. Content and copyright

You retain responsibility for URLs, HTML, files, and pages you submit or that the extension reads at your request. Articles and media belong to their original authors and publishers. Inkbox extracts and reformats content at your direction; we do not claim ownership of third-party works.

The Inkbox brand, site design, and software are our intellectual property. You may not copy or resell the Service without permission.

8. Devices and delivery

When you send to Kindle, PocketBook, or another supported destination, you must provide valid delivery details and complete any setup required by the manufacturer (for example, adding our sender address to your Amazon approved list, or authorizing a cloud folder). We are not responsible if Amazon, PocketBook, or another provider blocks, delays, or rejects delivery.

Delivery depends on third parties (including email and cloud providers). Delivery is not guaranteed.

9. Browser extension

The extension is part of the Service. It requires an Inkbox account and only accesses the active tab when you choose Preview or Send, to extract the article and fulfill your request. Store listings (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, and others) may impose additional policies; if those conflict with these Terms for distribution, the store rules apply to the listing itself while these Terms govern your use of Inkbox features.

Extension availability may lag website features while a store review is pending. Pre-release or unlisted builds may be offered to testers under the same Terms.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that conversions will be perfect, that every article will be supported, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Layout, images, and embeds may differ from the source page.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) EUR 100 OR (B) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including certain consumer rights in the EU).

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of third-party rights.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or block access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or others. You may stop using Inkbox and delete your account by contacting us or using in-product controls where available. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.

14. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance, except where further consent is required by law. Material changes to paid plans will be reflected on pricing and, where required, communicated before they affect your next charge.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also benefit from mandatory protections of your country of residence.

For disputes, we encourage you to contact us first at contact@useinkbox.app. Consumers in the EU may use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
